North School Computer Lab
October.
Students in all grades are learning about bullying - what is bullying, who is a bully, and what to do about bullying. We've been watching videos and having class discussion about bullying, and hopefully by the end of the unit will be able to create some of our own videos to post here.
The link below is one of the best powerpoint slide shows created this year by a 5th grader. Please leave your comments

Each grade level had a different activity.
The 3rd graders learned to use Word Art, and how to insert clip art into a document. The final product covers the walls outside my classroom.
The 4th graders practiced using clip art, and changing the font and typing when they created notepads for their teacher, and other teachers in the building.
Some of the 5th graders typed Christmas recipes, while others practiced Word Art skills, as well as copy and pasting the phrase "Merry Christmas" in languages from around the world.
The 6th graders researched Christmas around the world, and learned about how other cultures celebrate Christmas.
As a Christmas treat, the final week of school the students were allowed to play any game on the websites I have bookmarked on my web pages. Of course, I teased them first by suggesting they would have to read 15 pages of a website, and write a 5 page paper in the 30 minutes they were in the lab. As their eyes got WIDE, and their jaws dropped, I explained the true activity for the day. Lots of "thank you's" flew through the air, then the lab was calm and quiet for the next 30 minutes. :-)
